AusCOH provides Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA) services and practical hazardous-materials advice to help property owners, businesses and project teams identify and manage asbestos-related risks.
When this service may be required
Asbestos and hazardous materials assessments may be required when managing, maintaining, renovating, demolishing or purchasing older buildings and structures.
They may also be required where suspect materials have been discovered, building documentation is incomplete, refurbishment work is planned or an existing asbestos register or management plan requires review.
Identifying hazardous building materials before work begins can assist organisations to manage risk, protect workers and occupants, and plan maintenance or construction activities appropriately.

How an asbestos survey works
AusCOH will establish the purpose and scope of the assessment before undertaking a systematic inspection of the relevant building, structure or work area.
Suspect materials are identified and, where appropriate, representative samples are collected for NATA accredited laboratory analysis. The location, condition and potential for disturbance of identified materials are considered as part of the assessment.
Depending on the project, the work may include asbestos surveys, hazardous materials surveys, review of existing registers and management plans, targeted sampling or assessments prior to refurbishment or demolition.
Findings are documented clearly so that building owners, managers, contractors and other stakeholders can understand where hazardous materials are located and how they should be managed.
